Capital Careers
From blank page to live site in one week

brief.json
Public site for a regional talent platform. It connects veterans with manufacturing careers across Sacramento and Placer counties. I took the project from a blank page to launch in one week. I directed Claude through the build: brand, UI, copy, motion, forms and deployment.

01The brief
Three audiences and a demo on the calendar
Two chambers of commerce, two cities and one platform. An industry demo was already on the calendar. The site had to reassure veterans who feel shut out of manufacturing. It had to convince employers it was worth their time. And it had to hold up in front of the funders.

02AI-assisted design system
A product, not a brochure
The bar was for it to feel like a product that already works, not a brochure. To get there in a week, I trained Claude on the brand’s palette, type and voice. Then I used it to turn my design decisions into a token system and clean code. Every color and spacing rule is a CSS variable, so the whole site re-themes from a single file.

03Build
Built without a page builder
Five responsive pages in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. At the top of the pages, photo columns scroll in opposite directions. Content reveals as you scroll, and a GSAP sequence brings in the first screen. The forms actually work: a Cloudflare Worker validates each message and sends it through Resend. I added SEO and structured data. I checked every color pairing against WCAG AA. And I set up auto-deploy from GitHub.
04Result
Live before the demo
The site went live before the demo, fast and accessible. The chambers own it now, and it can grow beyond veterans and manufacturing. For me, it proved a method. I direct the AI through the heavy lifting of the build. The design judgment stays in my hands.
